Build Setup

Finally I managed to get a good build for my archer, and I actually got a hard time thinking about one, because since I was going for PvM I had to drop the Spell Resistance (it was awkward for me because I’m used to play with Spell Resistance even if I had a PvM character), but that will be balanced with 120 Healing, 120 Anatomy and at least 130 dexterity, which means sick healing and I’ll be able to cure lethal poison without fail. Here’s the build:

120 Archery

120 Bushido

120 Anatomy

120 Tactics

120 Healing

100 Chivalry

That’s a total of 700 skill points, and *if* I stay 1 year on the shard, I’ll have 20 skill points as a bonus (+5 each 90), and those will be used towards Chivalry. You may ask why so much in Chivalry? Well, there are two reasons for that:

1- It’s really frustrating when you keep casting Enemy Of One and it keeps failing, and everytime you aren’t able to cast a certain Chivalry spell, you’ll lose the Tithe points.

2- I didn’t had any other skill to place in or that felt like it was necessary.

I just hope there aren’t any other skill that I might when I’m halfway done with the character…

A bunch of websites added

As you can see, I’ve added a series of websites for you guys and gals to check it out, most of them are UO sites, but I added some others, like a site dedicaded to the news of Diablo 3 and a very funny webcomic.

Enjoy them! :D

Pondering about the skills

I really hate to think about what skills to use to optimize my character in the class I want (in this case, archer), because you have to think about the cap (in this case is 700, +5 each 90 days you stay on the shard, with a total of 20 skill bonus when accomplishing 1 year on the shard), and there’s always something that screws me, maybe because I hate to make specialized classes, or maybe I’m too much used to the non-skill cap thing. Or maybe I’m just not focusing enough. Either way, I get a hard time doing it. There’s always a little bonus when you have X on a certain skill that it’s actually nice for your class, and then you realize that’s you can only have 700 skill points, and the skills you wanted give a total of 1025. For example, Bushido at 120 (I think it was at 120) gives you 20% critical hit, and you’ll want that; you also have Resist that, well, increases your base resists and you can resist spells like Clumsy and Poison or you can decrease greatly the damage from spells like Flamestrike from 40 to about 15 or 10. If Anatomy and Healing are at 110 you’ll be able to heal lethal poison, no questions asked, and Anatomy each 10 skill points it has increases your damage.

Like I said before, it’s those little “secret” bonuses that some skills have that can really screw your entire build and make you go nuts over it, and that’s really getting in my nerves!! ARRGGGHHH

From UODemise, I introduce you to…

… Aelfric Raven! This is my new character in UODemise. He’s going to be a archer and hopefully, a good one. I’ll be posting stuff about him, kinda like a journal about him. Right now this is the build I’m going for, but I might change in the future, and if I do, I’ll post here and why.

115 Archery

120 Bushido

100 Anatomy

100 Tactics

100 Healing

70 Chivalry

100 Resist

Now, you may wonder why I’m going (to try) to get him 120 Bushido. The reason is that with 120, I’ll have an increase of 20% in critical hits, which means double or even triple the damage. Now add that with Enemy of One (you basically turn a target into your mortal enemy, increasing your damage by 50%, but it lowers a lor your defense when a different type of monsters attack you), Consecrate Weapon (you’ll target a monster’s weakest resistance for a short period of time), Divine Fury (increase attack speed and accuracy and it even lowers the enemies defense) and the special attack Armor Pierce, and you’ll do 200 damage easly (considering you have a good equipment, which I intend to). He’s going to be a fast shooter and healer also, since I’m going to give him 80 strenght, 125 dexterity and 20 intelligence, and I’m not going to worry about mana since I’m going to have items that increase stats.

Good thing about archers is that if you’re teaming with a warrior or a tank, you’ll be landing some killer shots in the back without getting a single scartch. The downside is that (obviously) you need arrows/bolts.

This is him after some time playing around with him. The reason he has “Warrior” as his title is because I chose Warrior (duh) to get a good skill in Healing, Tactics and Anatomy
